Anna Ajtner is a visual artist, photographer, painter, and video artist. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, where she graduated in painting (artistic-pedagogical track) in 1998. She previously studied at the State Secondary School of Fine Arts in Bydgoszcz, specializing in exhibition design (screen-printing diploma).

Since 2006, her artistic practice has focused primarily on photography, combining documentary approaches with staged imagery, experimentation, and intimacy. Her work explores themes of motherhood, the process of her daughter’s growing up, close relationships, and transformation over time. She works with both digital and traditional photographic techniques, experimenting with light, image structure, and photographic collage.

 

She is the founder of the international community Through a Mother’s Eyes Photography, which brings together over 8,000 members worldwide documenting motherhood and family relationships. She is also the founder of The Tower of Art – Anna Ajtner Foundation, dedicated to contemporary art, artistic education, and international creative exchange.

Anna Ajtner is a member of the Polish Artists’ Association (ZPAP) and a candidate member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF).

 

Her work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Poland and internationally, including Amsterdam, Paris, Arles, Overpelt, and Limerick. She has participated in major international art fairs and festivals such as Photo Basel, Fotofever Paris, and the Amsterdam International Art Fair. In 2025, she received the Grand Prix at the 1st Photography Biennale in Bydgoszcz, and in 2017 she was awarded a silver medal at the International Photo Festival in Overpelt, Belgium.

 

Her photographs have been published in GUP Magazine, LensCulture, PhotoVogue Italia, and Documentary Family Awards. She is the author of two photographic cycles published in the prestigious Werkdruck series (Galerie Vevais, Berlin, edited by Jock Sturges) and a contributor to the music book MadWorld (Karsten Wolff).

 

Since 2020, she has been active as an educator, teaching art, photography, and multimedia at secondary and post-secondary schools. Her activities also include curating youth exhibitions, organizing competitions and festivals, and leading workshops and lectures in photography and visual arts.

Anna Ajtner – artystka wizualna, fotografka, malarka i artystka wideo. Absolwentka Wydziału Sztuk Pięknych Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu, gdzie w latach 1993–1998 ukończyła studia magisterskie na kierunku malarstwo (ścieżka pedagogiczno-artystyczna). Wcześniej kształciła się w Państwowym Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Bydgoszczy, specjalizując się w wystawiennictwie (dyplom z sitodruku).

 

Od 2006 roku jej praktyka artystyczna koncentruje się przede wszystkim na fotografii, w której łączy dokument, kreację, eksperyment i intymność. W centrum jej zainteresowań znajdują się tematy macierzyństwa, dorastania córki, relacji bliskich oraz przemiany zachodzącej w czasie. Pracuje zarówno z technikami cyfrowymi, jak i tradycyjnymi, eksperymentując ze światłem, strukturą obrazu i kolażem fotograficznym.

 

Jest założycielką międzynarodowej społeczności Through a Mother’s Eyes Photography, skupiającej ponad 8 tysięcy członków z całego świata, dokumentujących doświadczenie macierzyństwa i relacje rodzinne. Jest również fundatorką Wieży Sztuki – Fundacji Anny Ajtner, działającej na rzecz sztuki współczesnej, edukacji artystycznej i międzynarodowej wymiany twórczej.

Członkini Związku Polskich Artystów Plastyków (ZPAP) oraz kandydatka do Związku Polskich Artystów Fotografików (ZPAF).

 

Brała udział w licznych wystawach indywidualnych i zbiorowych w Polsce i za granicą, m.in. w Amsterdamie, Paryżu, Arles, Overpelt, Limerick. Jej prace prezentowane były na międzynarodowych festiwalach i targach sztuki, takich jak Photo Basel, Fotofever Paris czy Amsterdam International Art Fair. W 2025 roku została laureatką Grand Prix I Biennale Fotografii w Bydgoszczy, a w 2017 roku otrzymała srebrny medal na International Photo Festival w Overpelt (Belgia).

 

Jej twórczość była publikowana m.in. w GUP Magazine, LensCulture, PhotoVogue Italia, Documentary Family Awards. Jest autorką dwóch cykli wydanych w prestiżowej serii Werkdruck (Galerie Vevais, Berlin, red. Jock Sturges) oraz współtwórczynią książki muzycznej MadWorld (Karsten Wolff).

 

Od 2020 roku prowadzi działalność dydaktyczną jako nauczycielka sztuki, fotografii i multimediów w szkołach średnich i policealnych. Zajmuje się również kuratorstwem wystaw młodzieżowych, organizacją konkursów, festiwali oraz prowadzeniem warsztatów i wykładów z zakresu fotografii i sztuk wizualnych.
