​Through a Mother’s and Father’s Eyes Photography is an international photographic group and initiative created from the need to speak about motherhood, parenthood, childhood, and growing up - seen from within, up close, through the eyes of mothers and fathers.

 

The group has been active continuously since 2014. It began with a curated exhibition of photographing mothers - intimate and personal in form, yet deeply universal in its message. The exhibition quickly took on a life of its own, traveling across Poland and later expanding internationally. Over time, the initiative evolved into a recurring photographic event, transforming its format and growing into an international photography festival, held both in Poland and in the Netherlands.

 

The festival was not only a presentation of photographs, but above all a space for meeting. A place where artists, families, children, and viewers could come together - beyond the frame and beyond the screen. The subjects of the photographs came to life, models stepped out of the images, and we stood together, talking, sharing experiences, and collectively receiving awards for the strongest works. These moments created a sense of closeness and community that reached far beyond photography itself.

 

At the heart of this initiative are deeply intimate images - photographs created through closeness, trust, and attentiveness. These are not images made alongside children, but together with them. In play, in everyday rituals, in exhaustion and tenderness. Children are not only the subjects of the frames, but active participants in the creative process - present, engaged, and co-creating the images. Photography becomes a shared experience, a way of being together, and a natural language of connection.

The works created within the group tell stories of motherhood as a relationship, of the role of the parent, of childhood and growing up - without idealization, yet with great honesty and warmth. They are records of emotion, physical and emotional closeness, and fleeting moments that photography allows to remain. These images connect - artists with viewers, individual experiences with collective ones, personal stories with something deeply universal.

 

Today, the group continues to thrive and brings together approximately 8,000 photographing mothers from Poland and abroad. Works created within the group have been presented internationally, including at Fotofever in Paris and International Art Fair in Amsterdam, through a gallery dedicated to promoting photography that is closest to the heart - pure, authentic, and grounded in lived experience.

Every day, the group’s administrators - as the community approaches its 10th anniversary - select and highlight the most compelling and emotionally resonant works shared by its members. Alongside this, efforts are made to organize independent and open exhibitions each year, creating further opportunities for presentation, meeting, and artistic growth.

 

Through a Mother’s and Father’s Eyes Photography remains a living, evolving community - a place of attentive looking, shared experience, and connection through photography. It is a story of closeness, time, and growing up - written with light, presence, and trust.

Through a Mother’s and Father’s Eyes Photography to międzynarodowa grupa

i inicjatywa fotograficzna, która powstała z potrzeby opowiadania o macierzyństwie, rodzicielstwie, dzieciństwie i dorastaniu - widzianych z bliska, od środka, oczami matek i ojców.

 

Grupa działa nieprzerwanie od 2014 roku. Jej początkiem była zorganizowana wystawa fotografujących matek - intymna i osobista w formie, a jednocześnie niezwykle uniwersalna w przekazie. Wystawa szybko zaczęła żyć własnym życiem: podróżowała po całej Polsce, a następnie doczekała się także edycji zagranicznych. Z czasem inicjatywa przekształciła się w cykliczne wydarzenie fotograficzne, zmieniając swoją formę i rozwijając się w międzynarodowy festiwal fotograficzny, który odbywał się zarówno w Polsce, jak i w Holandii.

 

Festiwal był nie tylko prezentacją fotografii, lecz przede wszystkim przestrzenią spotkania. Spotkania twórczyń i twórców, rodzin, dzieci, odbiorców - poza kadrem

i poza ekranem. Bohaterowie zdjęć ożywali, modele i modelki wychodzili z ram fotografii, a wszyscy spotykaliśmy się razem, rozmawiając, dzieląc doświadczenia

i wspólnie odbierając nagrody za najlepsze ujęcia. Były to chwile prawdziwej bliskości i wspólnoty, wykraczające daleko poza sam akt fotografowania.

 

W centrum tej inicjatywy od zawsze znajdują się bardzo intymne ujęcia - fotografie tworzone z czułości, zaufania i uważności. To obrazy, które nie powstają obok dzieci, ale razem z nimi. W zabawie, w codziennych rytuałach, w zmęczeniu i w radości. Dzieci są tu nie tylko bohaterami kadrów, lecz także aktywnymi uczestnikami procesu - obecnymi, zaangażowanymi, współtworzącymi obrazy. Fotografia staje się wspólnym doświadczeniem, formą bycia razem i naturalnym językiem porozumienia.

 

Prace powstające w ramach grupy opowiadają o macierzyństwie jako relacji, o roli rodzica, o dzieciństwie i dorastaniu - bez idealizowania, ale z ogromną czułością

i prawdziwością. To zapis emocji, bliskości fizycznej i emocjonalnej oraz chwil ulotnych, które dzięki fotografii zostają na dłużej. Obrazy te łączą - twórczynie i twórców z odbiorcami, doświadczenia indywidualne z tymi wspólnymi, osobiste historie z uniwersalnym przeżyciem.

 

Obecnie grupa nieprzerwanie działa i skupia około 8 tysięcy fotografujących mam z Polski i z zagranicy. Prace prezentowane w jej ramach były pokazywane m.in. w Paryżu na Fotofever i na International Art Fair in Amsterdam, za pośrednictwem galerii promującej fotografię najbliższą sercu - czystą, autentyczną i opartą na prawdziwym doświadczeniu.

 

Każdego dnia administratorki grupy - która w kolejnym roku będzie obchodzić swoje 10-lecie - wybierają i wyróżniają najciekawsze oraz najbardziej poruszające prace publikowane przez członkinie. Równolegle podejmowane są starania, aby co roku organizować wolne i indywidualne wystawy, tworząc przestrzeń do dalszego rozwoju, spotkań oraz prezentacji twórczości.

Through a Mother’s and Father’s Eyes Photography pozostaje żywą, rozwijającą się wspólnotą - miejscem uważnego patrzenia, dzielenia się doświadczeniem i budowania relacji poprzez fotografię. To opowieść o bliskości, czasie i dorastaniu - zapisana światłem, obecnością i zaufaniem.
